• Location

    Chambéry, located in the Alps mountains is the capital of the department and has been the historic capital of Savoy region since the 13th century. Close to the Bauges and Chartreuse regional parks, and just 15 minutes from Lakes Bourget and Aiguebelette, Chambéry looks towards the future and to youth in a dynamic and cultural environment.
    Chambéry is less than 90 km from 2 international airports (Geneva and Lyon), and shuttles are available from these airports to Chambéry city center.
    The congress center of Chambéry, in the city center, has a 400-seat amphitheater and many rooms. The city has an accommodation capacity of 1,070 rooms (22 hotels).
    Furthermore, Chambéry hosts one of the biggest provincial universities : close to Lyon University and Grenoble-Alpes University, Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) is focused to bridge various academic fields related to mountain space to engineering and industrial applications.

    Together with Lyon University and Grenoble-Alpes University, USMB has been developing since many years a strong skill in various fields related to landslides engineering, in both teaching and research activities.

  • How to get there?

    Situated at the heart of the Sillon Alpin region, Chambéry is a major European transport hub. So the city is both easy to reach and well served by all means of transport. Within the city, priority is given to ecological transport and Chambéry has both an extensive bus network and very good cycling facilities.

    Chambéry Savoie Airport is located approximately 10 kms north of the city center. Flybe, Jet2, British Airways, Blue Island and Transavia flights to and from Paris, the Netherlands and the UK operate between December and April.

    The Conference will be held at the Congress Center “Le Manège”. Located in Chambery downtown, near the old historical city, Le Manège is an old building dating back to the Sarde period, which can welcome up to 400 attendees. More than 1400 rooms in neighboring comfortable hotels (from 1 to 4 stars).

    To be noted:
    Whatever the worldwide sanitary situation in 2024, a mixed format including both a regular in-person symposium and a remote digital access will be proposed.
